Emerson Campus Good Neighbor Open House Recap

The Lake Washington School District Support Services team, along with members of the construction project team, met with families and community members from the Emerson community on the evening of January 21. The goal of the event was to show the community the construction plans for the rebuild and enlarge project for the Emerson Campus that will kick off this spring. 

A handful of community members joined the team to learn more and ask questions about the upcoming construction project. Questions for staff were focused on impacts on the students and traffic during construction and general interest in the design of the new campus. 

As part of the 2022 Building Excellence Construction Levy, voters approved funding additional high school capacity on the westside of the district. At a school board study session, staff shared the new facility will be constructed on the Emerson campus to create space for additional students. The project goals include providing space for early learning, enhancing opportunity and long-term viability of infant daycare services for enrolled students and families, addressing the aging facility and capitalizing on currently beneficial yet under-enrolled educational programs. Continued work will be needed to reimagine the educational programming for Emerson High School and Emerson K-12.
